KAGADI, UGANDA: Shock and grief engulfed residents of Mohooro town council in Kigadi district today (Thursday) morning after a 50-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself on a mango tree.
The deceased was identified as David Mwesigwa, 50, a resident of Igulika cell, Mohooro town council in Kagadi district whose cause of death is yet to be identified.
Residents said the cause of Mwesigwa’s hanging threw them in shock and advised fellow members to always seek for guidance and counselling in case of any disappointments other than committing suicide.
At the time of this report, police had already reached the scene and carried out a postmortem and the body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives to organize for burial arrangements.
Attempts to have a comment on the incident from the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson Julius Hakiza failed as he was unable to pick up our numerous phone calls.
The development comes a few days ago after another person who was a village secretary for Nyakabungo village identified as Joseph Mugisha aged 66 committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on Monday evening for a yet unidentified reason. The LC1 chairperson Benon Byamugisha said the incident happened at around 5 pm on.
Cases of committing suicide have become rampant in Kagadi district with the latest case being one of last week that involved one Geresom Muteebwa in his 50s who ended his life in Kyakabadiima sub-county.
