Bible Society Boss Simon Peter Mukhama is dead

Mukhama passed away Friday morning at Mengo Hospital in Kampala where he had reportedly been rushed for treatment after he felt unwell in the night.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The General Secretary and CEO of the Bible Society of Uganda, Simon Peter Mukhama is dead, DailyExpress confirms.

Mukhama according to preliminary reports passed away Friday morning at Mengo Hospital in Kampala where he had reportedly been rushed for treatment after he felt unwell in the night.

“It’s so sad to learn of the passing on of the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Uganda, Mr Simon Peter Mukhama this morning. May God comfort the family, Bible Society family and all people of God,” tweeted All Saints Cathedral Kampala on Friday morning.

Mukhama who served as head of Uganda’s Bible Society for over 10 years is credited with not only launching a braille Bible for the blind but also for publishing a bilingual bible in Spanish and English.

Born and raised in Mbale district, Eastern Uganda. Mukhama studied primary education at Nabumali Primary School and joined Nabumali High School for his secondary education.

He then studied at Makerere University where he attained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and later a Master’s degree in Business Administration at the same institution.

He was at the time of his demise pursuing a doctorate in Business Administration majoring in leadership at Walden University in the USA.

Simon Peter Mukhama is survived by his wife Ruth Mukhama and four children.
