KAMPALA, UGANDA: President Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces has appointed and promoted a total of 141 senior prison officers to various ranks in the institution.
The officers have been promoted to the ranks of Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Senior Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, among others.
Among the officers appointed and promoted to higher ranks include five Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons (ACGP); John Bosch Tumwebaze, Milton Tiyo, Robert Munanura, Hillary Bisanga and George Muge.
The development was confirmed by Dr Johnson Byabashaija, the Prisons Service Commissioner General in a letter dated May 12, 2023. “The president through his constitutional powers appointed and promoted officers from Uganda Prisons to various ranks,” he said.
According to Dr Byabashaija, the promotion to Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons took immediate effect from 29th April 2023.
