OYAM, UGANDA: Alex Odoch, the LC1 Chairperson of Awangi village, in Iceme sub-county, Oyam district is having a sleepless night over his pending request for a motorcycle that he placed before the Vice President of Uganda H.E Jessica Alupo during the burial of the late Col Okello Engola Mac-dwogo last Saturday.

Mr Odoch, 49, complained to the Vice President that his bicycle tubes had developed punctures hence preventing him from executing his duties efficiently.

According to Odoch, the bicycle he received from the government recently is no longer helping him at the moment since the tube has developed several punctures and therefore he isn’t able to mobilize and monitor government programs in time.

He, therefore, requested the VP to consider his request and offer him a motorcycle to speed up his work in time.

The Vice President, H.E Jessica Alupo in her remarks, told Odoch not to worry and that the request would be worked up through the Oyam district Woman MP Santa Alum Ogwang who will in turn give him.

Speaking to DailyExpress in a separate interview on Monday, Odoch revealed how he became the village chairperson in 2017 after he garnered 421 votes in that year’s LC1 elections beating his rival Peter Ateke who got only 28 votes in total.

“Awangi has 146 households and I am always very tired of moving in this village to mobilize the village residents door to door to benefit from government programs here in my village,” said Odoch.

The chairperson added that he is not sleeping any more waiting for the 5 million shillings to buy a Bajaj motorcycle therefore the VP better speed up.

This is now the second LC1 chairperson in the Lango sub-region to demand a motorcycle from the president’s office.

On the 15th September 2022, President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta surprised the LC1 chairman of Aberidwogo with Five [5] million shillings.

Just after welcoming the people for the launch of the Land certificate /issuance of customary land titles and /or certificates, the LC1 chairman of Aberidwogo village requested President Museveni to help him with a motorcycle.

Immediately as Museveni was invited by the minister of land to issue land certificates, he awarded the LC1 chairman of Aberdwogo, Ibuje town council in Apac district with Five million shillings.
