Veteran sports commentator Stuart Mutebi bows out

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Ugandans across social media are mourning the loss of celebrated sports commentator Stuart Mutebi Kiwanuka who was Saturday pronounced dead by his relatives after a long period of illness.

The legendary sports journalist has been off the airwaves for over two years now ever since he was attacked by an ailment that saw him bedridden. The stroke left him paralyzed, but it never dampened his love for sports or his unwavering dedication to his craft.

His last public appearance came in a video in April this year when the Uganda North American Association special envoy Zephania Kizza Sseninde visited him and Henry Kizito Divosh at their homes.

Prior to his untimely death, the veteran commentator was a respectable figure in the sports commentary field and was rendering his services at UBC and Star FM.

Born and raised in Kasokokoso Kireka, Stuart Mutebi’s journey in sports commentary started with humble beginnings.

He lent his voice to several prominent radio stations and television channels, including CBS FM, Super FM, Star FM, NBS TV, and UBC.
