KAGADI, UGANDA: The police in Kagadi is hunting for a housewife for allegedly torching a family house accusing his husband of infidelity.

The suspect has been identified as Katusabe Alinaitwe Nyango, while the victim is Vincent Abigana, both residents of Kitoro cell, Kagadi town council in Kagadi district.

Christopher Kabagambe, the LC1 Chairperson for Kitoro cell says that Katusabe had a heated argument with Abigaba on Monday evening accusing him of marrying a second wife hence leading to disagreement.

“On Monday evening, the duo had some disagreements after the woman got information that Abigaba had married another wife hence resorting to torching their family house on Tuesday morning,” he said.

Abigaba regrets Katusabe’s act of becoming furious hence setting fire on their permanent house where, household items such as mattresses, plates, and clothes worth 500,000 shillings were completely destroyed in the fire.

He says Katusabe is alleged to have connived with her relatives to burn their family house and, therefore, wants the relatives to reconstruct his house.

“I think this move was between my wife and relatives who advised her to torch my house so as to live in losses, but I will not accept this and I have reported the case to Kigadi CPS for the law to handle,”. Abigaba said.

Meanwhile, Julius Allan Hakiiza the Albertine region police spokesperson cautioned married couples against domestic violence and urged them to report their conflicts to local leaders or the police for assistance.

The regional police mouthpiece said they have commenced a hunt to arrest and charge Ms Katusabe if found guilty of the arson attack.
