City Lawyer Ronnie Mukisa shot dead in Kajjansi

The tragic incident occurred on the night of 30th May 2023 at Kitiko Birongo, Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo in Wakiso District, according to the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Police at Kampala Metropolitan South is actively investigating a murder-by-shooting incident in which a Kampala-based lawyer was killed just outside his residence in Kajjansi off Entebbe Road.

Ronnie Mukisa, 45, who was working at IBC Advocates in Namanda Plaza, Kampala was gunned down in the tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday night, 30th May 2023 at Kitiko Birongo, Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo in Wakiso District.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Mukisa, a resident of Kitiko Birongo in Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo, Wakiso District was “shot multiple times in the head” by an unidentified individual over yet-to-be-known reasons.

“Statements from eyewitnesses have indicated that an unidentified individual was seen shooting at Mukisa before briefly withdrawing, only to return and shoot him at close range multiple times in the head,” said Owoyesigyire.

ASP Owoyesigyire explained that the victim who would often return home late on the night of the incident arrived at the apartment parking lot at approximately 2300hrs and proceeded to open his gate as usual.

“On the night of the incident, he arrived at the apartment parking lot at approximately 23:00hrs. After parking his dark blue Subaru Legacy, Mukisa proceeded to close the gate. It was during his return to the apartment that neighbours heard gunshots, prompting them to investigate the commotion,” explained Owoyesigyire.

He added that the assailant quickly fled the scene and escaped on a waiting motorcycle, the direction of which remains unknown.

The Police at Kajjansi Station took immediate action upon receiving the report of the incident and a team was dispatched to the scene, followed by the introduction of canines to aid in the investigation.

A thorough search of the area also led to the recovery of four projectiles and cartridges, according to the KMP deputy publicist.

“Kajansi Police Station is currently conducting inquiries to gather further information and establish the motive behind this heinous crime. We assure the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the perpetrator(s) and bring them to justice,” Owoyesigyire said.

The body of Mr Mukisa was subsequently retrieved and transported to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations into the tragic shooting get underway.

Police have asked anyone with relevant information regarding this incident to assist the law enforcers in their probe. 

“We urge anyone with relevant information regarding this incident to come forward and assist the police in their investigation,” Owoyesigyire emphasized.
