Kagadi man on the run after killing wife in domestic brawl

The child explained that when her father Alex Mugarura returned from weeding the sugarcanes, the couple picked a quarrel which prompted Alex to hit his wife with a brick who died on the spot.

KAGADI, UGANDA: Shock and grief engulfed residents of Katatahwa trading centre in Kagadi district after a man in his 30s hit his wife with a brick killing her instantly during a domestic fight.

The deceased identified as Twikirize Rosemary a mother of six children and the suspect, her husband Mugarura Alex who is still at large are both residents of Katatahwa Trading Centre Bukungwe village in Kagadi sub-county Kagadi district.

Speaking to DailyExpresss, Alex Tulinawe, one of the deceased’s children revealed that the trouble started Thursday evening when his father {Mugarura Alex} instructed her mother now the deceased to go with him for weeding in a sugar cane plantation of one Tibarora of the same residence.

However, according to Tulinawe, her mother was unable to go to weed sugarcane with her father because she was sick.

The child explained that when her father Alex Mugarura returned from weeding the sugarcanes, the couple picked a quarrel which prompted Alex to hit his wife with a brick who died on the spot.

Shocked residents who managed to speak to this website revealed that Alex Mugarura sometime back had a mental problem and is an alcohol addict.

They described the deceased Rosemary as a woman who has been living in peace with fellow residents in the community.

The local council one chairperson Bukungwe village Lawrence Kamihaanda has attributed the incident to domestic violence where he challenged residents to always use concerned leaders whenever they get misunderstandings in their families.

He further challenged locals especially the youth to desist from drug abuse stressing that Alex the suspect and his wife Rosemary now the deceased have been addicted to alcohol.

By the time of compiling this story, Police had not yet visited the scene and efforts to get a police comment were futile.

The deceased Rosemary Twikirize has survived by six children including twins nine months old.
