Mob kills suspected sheep thief in Kisoro

The mob after lynching the suspect carried the body to his father’s home in the same residence before abandoning it in the compound and taking off.

KISORO, UGANDA: A furious mob in Matarama village Gisozi parish, Muramba Sub County in the Kisoro district has lynched a suspected sheep thief. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Stephen Hafasha.

According to John Bavakure, a resident of the same residence who reported the matter to Muramba Police Post, Hafasha was yesterday evening at around 06:00 PM red-handedly caught with a suspected stolen sheep in Makurizo village in Bunagana Town council, in Kisoro district which prompted the angry mob to start assaulting him until his death.

He added that the mob then carried the body of the deceased to his father’s home in the same residence before abandoning it in the compound and taking off.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incident saying that police retrieved the body of the deceased and took it to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for Postmortem as the hunt for whoever participated in the act continues.

Maate condemned the act saying that people should always use relative authorities to handle some of their grievances rather than taking the law into their own hands.
