Ayebare Restytuta: 22-year-old shares her vision for Miss Tourism Ankole crown

Ayebare believes Uganda and particularly the Ankole Region is very rich with a number of sightings/tourist attractions that are known to the locals, but often not recognised outside their communities.

As several regions in Uganda embark on a search for their Miss Tourism Beauty Queens, the Ankole Region is set to crown theirs in the Miss Tourism Ankole 2023 project, on a date yet to be confirmed for the finale.

Of the 12 contestants, is one Ayebare Restytuta, a 22-year-old student at Makerere University, and a born of Rubirizi district, particularly the Batsaba clan in Western Uganda.

Speaking to DailyExpress, Ayebare revealed that regarding this year’s theme which is centred around “Greening Tourism”, her primary focus will be on Engaging the youth in initiatives that create a beautifully conducive environment for both local and foreign tourists in Ankole, Uganda and Africa as a whole.

“I am thrilled to share my passion for greening tourism and cultural diversity,” she said.

Ayebare believes Uganda and particularly the Ankole Region is very rich with a number of sightings/tourist attractions that are known to the locals, but often not recognised outside their communities.

“I intend to create linkages with outside communities to grow the local tourism in my region,” Ayebare said.

The prospective Ankole beauty Queen says she looks up to the works of the Late Maria Mutagamba, the line minister who introduced tourism pageants in Uganda.

She adds that she’s itching to change livelihoods by tackling the potential of every earthed and unearthed treasure that lies hidden in the plain sight of the communities.

Ayebare is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Makerere University majoring in Human Resource Management.

She went to Rugazi Parents Primary School Rubirizi and St.Kagwa Boarding Primary School Bushenyi for her primary education before joining Maryhill High School Mbarara for both my O and A levels.
