Kikuube district receives 420,000 doses of Yellow fever vaccine

The 5-day campaign is expected to end on the 13th of June 2023 and its targeting a Population of over 420,000 with the age of 9 Months up to 60 years.

KIKUUBE, UGANDA: Kikuube District has received 422,000 doses of Yellow Fever Vaccine and 460 Cards for a reactive Mass Vaccination Campaign in the district.

The campaign aimed at stopping the transmission and avoiding the morbidity and mortality rates is scheduled to commence this week on Friday the 9th of June 2023.

The 5-day campaign is expected to end on the 13th of June 2023 and its targeting a Population of over 420,000 with the age of 9 Months up to 60 years.

With this exercise, the affected population will be able to achieve Immunity against Yellow Fever

In Kikuube District vaccination is going to take place at all the Health Centres, Facility Outreaches, Churches and Schools and the Immunisation team will consist of Over 445 health workers, VHTs and LC1 Chairpersons of the respective Villages

Peter Byaruhanga, the Surveillance Focal Person said that there is no specific treatment for Yellow Fever but recommended that the Patients should be provided with supportive treatment and bednets for preventing the spread of the Infection.

He added that vaccination is the Major preventive measure against yellow Fever disease because it’s highly effective.

There fore the entire district is requested to embrace the exercise in order to avoid the viral disease.
