Kiryandongo PDM Saccos receive shs 2.4Bn

According to the district production officer, 42 PDM SACCOs are expecting an additional 50 million each before the end of June while Nanda is expecting 75 million.

KIRYANDONGO, UGANDA: A total of 43 SACCOs registered for the Parish Development Model in Kiryandongo district have received a total of 2.4 billion shillings, DailyExpress has understood.

Mr. Atwooki Issa the Kiryandongo district production officer told this publication that 42 of the 43 SACCOs have received 57 million each while Nanda SACCO got 32 million.

He added that 42 PDM SACCOs are expecting an additional 50 million each before the end of June while Nanda is expecting 75 million.

Clarifying the criteria used in selecting beneficiaries, Mr Atwooki stated that groups nominate beneficiaries who apply for the loan from their PDM SACCO and the computer data used during registration is then used to determine if the nominated beneficiary is subsistence.

He further narrated that in some cases, adjustments have been made to have village meetings to authenticate the status of beneficiaries.

Hon Aliguma Edith the district chairperson appreciated the efforts made by the government to get people out of poverty but also warned beneficiaries to desist from wasting the money intended to help them come out of poverty.

The Parish Development Model program was initially meant to give each parish shillings 100 million per year.
