School patron wanted over aggravated defilement, sodomy of 9-yr-old pupil

FORT PORTAL: The Police in Rwenzori West and Fortportal East Division is actively searching for one Ssali Joash a patron of a nine-year-old pupil over the alleged defilement and sodomy of the minor.

Ssali, a 37-year-old resident of Gezi village, Misindika ward, Kyenjojo Town Council, Kyenjojo District is said to sexually molested the P.3 pupil at Kasisi Day and Boarding Primary School in Fort Portal City countless times while in the dormitory.

According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, preliminary facts gathered indicate that a concerned pupil at the school narrated his ordeal to his mother that the Patron was making sexual advances to him and also molesting two other children respectively which prompted the mother to inform the headteacher who reported the matter to the police.

“All the three victims were identified by a medical officer and one of the three victims, was found positive. The victim and two others are already traumatised and are undergoing psycho-social support,” Enanga said.

“We want to thank the Headteacher, for immediately reporting the matter to police. Efforts are now in place, to trace the suspect and bring him to book after he escaped from the school and is at large,” he added.

In a separate development, the Police at Kiira Region and Jinja City are investigating circumstances under which a 15-year-old male juvenile, at Jinja College, was attacked by a group of students, who tied his mouth with a cloth, and his body to a bed.

The naughty student undressed the victim and pushed a stick into his an*s in a grievous incident that occurred last week on the 14 of June 2023.

According to Enanga, the victim fell unconscious after the atrocious act but was recovered late and rushed to Nile International Hospital, where the stick was removed. The victim had reported 4 students, involved in acts of sodomy, which led to their suspension. Inquiries into the matter continue.

“We do strongly condemn all forms of sexual violence and torture in schools. Efforts are in place to ensure, the perpetrators are identified and held accountable for their crimes,” Enanga warned.

He further urged all school proprietors and administrators to provide safe learning environments, to ensure the safety and security of students and the school infrastructure.
