WATCH: Three feared dead as speeding truck rams into Karuma Falls

According to eyewitnesses at the time of the incident, the truck, Registration number UAT 113F was coming from Elegu at a high speed when the driver lost control close to the bridge and rammed into the high-speed waterfalls.

The driver of the truck Reg No UAT 113F was coming from Elegu lost control on Karuma Bridge, hit the guard rails and plunged into running waterfalls

KIRYANDONGO, UGANDA: Three people including the driver are feared dead after a Mercedes SINO trailer in which they were travelling overturned at Karuma bridge and drowned into the falls on Tuesday morning.

According to eyewitnesses at the time of the incident, the truck, Registration number UAT 113F was coming from Elegu at a high speed when the driver lost control close to the bridge and rammed into the high-speed waterfalls.

By press time, there was a single trace of a trailer vehicle or its occupants but bottles of beer are seen broken and scattered all over the point of the ram.

It is suspected that the overspeeding driver was drunk leading to a loss of an accident.

Eyewitnesses say that the trailer had 3 passengers (2 males including the driver and one female).

Police investigations have sparked off to establish the real cause of the accident and identify the casualties.

Cases of road accidents have been rampant along the Gulu-Kampala Highway with eight cases reported in the last three weeks.
