Man commits suicide at in-law’s home after failing to reconcile with wife

According to residents, the couple had separated due to irreconcilable differences, and despite his persistent efforts, Natiigo was unable to persuade Namata to return home.

MUBENDE, UGANDA: Residents of Kiyanja South Division, in Mubende Municipality, were gripped with shock after a man was found hanging dead in his in-law’s compound over failure to reconcile with his estranged wife.

Natiigo Vincent in his early 30s, is said to have committed suicide by hanging after his wife, Namata Grace dumped him three years ago and refused to go back to him.

According to residents, the couple had separated due to irreconcilable differences, and despite his persistent efforts, Natiigo was unable to persuade Namata to return home.

Some residents say Namata had suffered mistreatment during their marriage and harboured deep resentment towards Natiigo.

Out of desperation, Natiigo allegedly took his own life by hanging himself from a tree on his in-law’s property and left behind a note requesting his in-laws to deliver his message to Namata and urging her to find happiness with someone else

His lifeless body was discovered on Tuesday morning and police took it to the mortuary as a probe into the homicide case kicked off.
