Tekwaro Lango Chief praises UPDF, condoles Mumbere over ADF attack

LIRA, UGANDA: The Paramount Chief of Tekwaro Lango Chiefdom Eng Dr Michael Moses Odongo Okune has sent a condolence message to Rwenzururu King, His Majesty Charles Mumbere over the recent attack by suspected ADF rebels at Mondwe-Lhubiriha Secondary School, in Kasese recently which resulted into the death of 43 people, injured scores and others abducted.

His Highness Eng Dr Okune in his message seen by DailyExpress asked the people of Kasese not to lose hope but to continue cooperating by providing information to all relevant security agencies like the military of the UPDF and the Uganda Police Force for timely interventions.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved families, the people of Kasese and their leadership upon this unfortunate incident by the retrogressive enemies of humanity…” reads part of the condolence message.

The paramount chief also lauded President Yoweri Museveni for his insightful approach to deploying the UPDF troops which launched Operation Shujaa in neighbouring DR Congo which has for long been a springboard

He also thanked the efforts being made by the UPDF soldiers to eliminate the ADF rebel group inside the dense jungles of the Democratic Republic of Congo which will soon pacify the region for meaningful peace and trade between the two countries.

He compared it way back to past similar massacres at Barlonyo in Lira, Abia in Alebtong, Abok Sub County, in Lango and in other areas of Northern Uganda during the Kony-led Insurgency describes the Kasese attack as heart-wrenching.

Eng Okune further condemned the incident of the brutal killing saying losing innocent children in such a barbaric and criminal manner must never be allowed to repeat itself anywhere again because it really demoralizes the community.

According to His Highness Micheal Odongthe young boys and girls were beaming with ambition and hope as they prepared to be groomed to serve their families and the nation which had been brutally cut short….” Okune’s message reads.

He also used the opportunity to urge Ugandans to appreciate and guard zealously the peace being enjoyed in the country and avoid situations that can make it slide into lawlessness like Sudan, Libya and Somalia.

He commended the President of the Republic of Uganda H.E Gen Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for the peace in Northern Uganda so far being enjoyed since 2006 up to now.

‘’The local residents should appreciate the importance of peace and tranquillity like our people in Northern Uganda did, which will make it very difficult for the criminally-minded people to infiltrate communities” said Eng Okune.
