Mary Akol sworn-in as new Bukedea LC5 chairperson

Speaking shortly after she was sworn in, Akol promised to work with everyone including those she contested with for a better Bukedea.

BUKEDEA, UGANDA: The Bukedea Chief Magistrate, Hope Namisi has officially sworn in Ms Mary Akol as the new Bukedea LC5 chairperson replacing the late Moses Olemukan who died last year in December.

While officiating at the function on Friday, June 30 at the district headquarters, Ms Namisi said; “I don’t belong to any party, actually under the law we are not allowed to help any political belonging but I know that we all belong to the party of God and that is why we are here to administer the oath in the name of the Almighty God.”

Akol was on June 14, declared Akol as the winner of the by-election after beating her competitors including Lokwish Tychicus Ebukalin, an independent, and Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Sam Odeke Oita to replace the late Moses Olemukan.

Prior to her election as LC V Vice Chairperson, Ms Akol had been serving her second term as a woman councillor, representing Aminit Sub County as well as the deputy LC 5 chairperson of the district.
