Shock as 24-year-old man collapses dead after having supper

Police in Bukedi South and Tororo district are investigating the mysterious death of a Game Ranger at Ngoma Game Reserve who collapsed dead shortly after having a meal on Monday evening.

TORORO, UGANDA: Police in Bukedi South and Tororo district are investigating the mysterious death of a Game Ranger at Ngoma Game Reserve who collapsed dead shortly after having a meal on Monday evening.

Brian Gigo, 24, a resident of Wakasiki Cell, Nabuyoga Town Council in Tororo District is alleged to have collapsed in the compound at their home and passed on shortly on July 3, 2023.

According to the late’s father, Mr Apollo Oyuki, his son had just finished taking supper at their home when he went out in the compound to relax before collapsing mysteriously. He died moments later.

Bukedi South Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Johnson Moses Mugwe, confirmed the incident, saying they have started investigating the matter to establish the cause of his death.

“We have information that the deceased had supper with his family members and went to his house to sleep but shortly after, Gigo moved out of his house only to collapse in the compound and was immediately rushed to Mulanda Health Centre IV where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” Mr Mugwe said as he called for calm and avoidance of speculation.

He added that police visited the scene of the crime and documented it fully, and recorded statements, all to aid in the investigations.

Mr Mugwe added that the body was taken to Tororo General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination and after it will be handed over to the family for burial.
