UPDF beefs up security ahead of Late Babiito Clan leader’s burial

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces have beefed up security at the home of the late Babiito clan Chairperson Dabanja Alfred Dabiiro in Bweyale Town Council in Kiryandongo District.

KIRYANDONGO, UGANDA: The Uganda People’s Defense Forces have beefed up security at the home of the late Babiito clan Chairperson Dabanja Alfred Dabiiro in Bweyale Town Council in Kiryandongo District.

The late who joined NRA in 1980 later resigned at the rank of Corporal before establishing himself as a prominent businessman in Kiryandongo District.

The late passed on at the dawn of Friday, June 30, 2023, at around 3:30 am. It is said that on Friday night, suspecting thieves broke through the house of the treasurer of the burial committee expecting to find money from eulogisers. This prompted the UPDF to deploy tight security ahead of the burial.

Muhangi Edison the Kiryandongo district DPC stated that the ongoing process of burial requires a strong manning and so Uganda police will be on standby to support the UPDF to efficiently handle the security risk at hand.

Biography of the late

The late Dabanja Alfred Dabiiro

Born on 09/10/1965, the late Dabanja Alfred Dabiiro attended Katulikire Primary School before joining forces in 1980 where he worked for six months.

He joined the transport business and later got established in the tractor business in the district.

He was the first Chairperson of National Water and Sewerage Cooperation – Bweyale.

By the time of his demise, Dabanja was the National Chairperson of the Babiito clan and Kibanda North county Chief in the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

The body is still kept at Atapara Hospital up to Thursday when burial will take place.
