KAMPALA, UGANDA: President Yoweri Museveni has reappointed experienced accountant CPA Josephine Okui Okwakol Ossiya to the Bank of Uganda (BoU) Board of Directors, DailyExpress has learnt.
“In Exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 161(3)(a) of the 1995 Constitution, I have reappointed Ms Josephine Okui Ossiya as a Member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Uganda,” Mr Museveni said in a June 19 appointment notice.
“I hereby, submit her Name and Curriculum Vitae to Parliament for approval,” he added.
Ossiya’s appointment was confirmed on Thursday by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Thomas Tayebwa who in a tweet said the appointee underwent the vetting session by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
”I chaired Parliament’s Committee on Appointments to vet the Presidential nominee for the Bank of Uganda board, Ms Josephine Okui Ossiya, this morning,” Tayebwa tweeted earlier on Thursday.
According to the Deputy Speaker, the Committee will communicate its decision to the appointing authority at a later time to confirm Ossiya in the position.
Ossiya, a Certified Public Accountant, is currently one of the seven members of the BoU’s Board of Directors.
She also chairs the Strategy and Finance Committee of the Board (SFCB) and serves on the Audit and Governance Committee which among other roles ensures that the financial resources of the Bank are appropriately deployed to meet its strategic priorities. It also provides oversight of risk and IT governance.
