Gulu University’s Dr Mukembo appointed to Uganda Pharmacy Board

The Minister for Health, Dr Aceng Ruth Ocero has appointed Gulu University Head of Medical Services, Dr Mukembo Robert to serve on the Pharmacy Board representing the Uganda Medical Association, the Professional Association of Doctors in Uganda.

GULU, UGANDA: The Minister for Health, Dr Aceng Ruth Ocero has appointed Gulu University Head of Medical Services, Dr Mukembo Robert to the Pharmacy Board representing the Uganda Medical Association, the Professional Association of Doctors in Uganda.

The ministerial appointment is in accordance with Section one of the Pharmacy and Drug Act,1970 CAP 280 according to the Minister in a letter dated 27th of June 2023.

Prof. Openjuru George Ladaah, Gulu University Vice-Chancellor said the appointment is a vote of confidence on the products of Gulu University.

“Congratulations! This is good news, and it is a confirmation and recognition of Dr Mukembo’s capacity for service to this nation. This should make him demonstrate that Medical Doctors trained at Gulu University are at another level of service and quality”. Prof Openjuru commented on the news.

Speaking of his appointment, Dr Mukembo expressed excitement promising to do his best in the Board with the trust invested in him.

“Am humbled to add another stone to our country’s building and elevate the name of Gulu University higher”. He reacted to the announcement.

Profile Background

Dr Mukembo Robert was a Medical student at Gulu University Faculty of Medicine where he served as the University Guild President between 2016 to 2017 and later Graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Gulu University.

In 2021 Gulu University recruited him as head of Health Services at the University, a position he has held to date.
