Lamwo Deputy RDC commissions newly constructed laboratory at Madi-Opei HC IV

The Lamwo Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mr Oguti Sebastian has commended the USAID Regional Health Integration in the Acholi subregion (USAID-RHITES-N) for the renovation of the medical laboratory at Madi-Opei Health Centre IV in Lamwo District, northern Uganda.

LAWO, UGANDA: The Lamwo Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mr Oguti Sebastian has commended the USAID Regional Health Integration in the Acholi subregion (USAID-RHITES-N) for the renovation of the medical laboratory at Madi-Opei Health Centre IV in Lamwo District, northern Uganda.

Mr Oguti made the remarks on Thursday afternoon while receiving the fully renovated Laboratory worth over 280 million Uganda shillings from RHITES-N at Madi Opei Town Council.

According to the Deputy RDC, the new first-class laboratory will enhance services for disease surveillance, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease spread in the district and other neighbouring districts surrounding Lamwo and even the neighbouring country, especially South Sudan.

“Madi-Opei H/C IV is on the highway to South Sudan and therefore the laboratory will serve Ugandans and all other people surrounding Uganda with the putting in place of this Laboratory,” said Mr Oguti.

He added; “We have this Laboratory here in Madi-Opei Town Council due to the good working relationship between the Uganda government and the United States of America (USAID).”

Oguti added that the NRM government has for long promised the improvement in health services for Ugandans and thus it is being done progressively, something which citizens ought to appreciate the government of Uganda headed by President Yoweri Museveni.

He, therefore, cautioned the Health Management Committee and the district to sustain the facility.

On behalf of USAID, Dr Abel Nkolo, the Chief of Party for RHITES-N noted that the Madi-Opei Health Centre IV was supported with additional equipment for human diagnosis, mentorship, among others

The handover ceremony presided over by Deputy RDC Lamwo was attended by the Chief of Party of RHITES-N Acholi Dr Abel Nkolo, Lamwo DHO, Dr Denis Omoya, and the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) for Madi-Opei Town Council, among others.
