JINJA: Promoted officers implored to carry on tasks of new ranks

The 168 police officers in Kiira regional policing area who were elevated from various ranks in the recent promotion by the President have been implored to carry on their tasks with the ranks.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The 168 police officers in Kiira regional policing area who were elevated from various ranks in the recent promotion by the President have been implored to carry on their tasks with the ranks.

The officers who underwent a pipping on Saturday were promoted between ranks of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Inspector of Police (IP).

The Regional Police spokesperson Mr James Mubi who was also promoted from ASP to SP told DailyExpress that four police officers were promoted from the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and thirteen officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) to SP.

Others were nine gazetted officers who were promoted from the rank of Inspector of Police(IP) to Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) and Inspectorate (Assistant Inspector of Police{AIP} to inspector of Police {IP}) plus non-commissioned officers totalling to 142.

At the function which took place at Civil Service College in Jinja, SP Mubi who was also the chairperson organizing committee for the pipping ceremony congratulated all promoted officers and implored them to carry on responsibilities ahead of their new ranks saying that promotions come with responsibilities and professionalism.

“On behalf of the RPC and on my own behalf, we congratulate all promoted officers and also implore them to live up to the tasks of their current ranks. Thanks come with higher responsibilities and professionalism,” SP Mubi said before encouraging officers who missed the promotion list that they will definitely be considered for other promotions to come.

He also said; “We thank the president of Uganda, minister of internal affairs, the parliament of Uganda for appropriating money, the Inspector General of Police and the Kiira regional police authority led by RPC ACP Richard Okullu for having genuinely recommended truly deserving officers.”

The officers who were raised to SSP include the Regional Human resource officer SSP Andrew Muzira, Regional CID Officer SSP Frank Ntankovu, Regional Surgeon Officer SSP Vincent Masinde and DPC Kakira SSP Bashir Siriba.

The pipping ceremony was officiated by the NRM parliamentary caucus spokesperson who doubles as the MP for Kagoma North constituency Hon Alex Brandon Kintu alias ‘Musayi Muto’ as the chief guest and was earlier graced by Busoga regional kadhi Sheikh Dr. Hussein Muhammad Bowa, who led the prayers.

Hon Kintu challenged the officers to execute their duties with a high degree of professionalism and condemned the ill acts done by individual officers which he says sometimes tarnish the force’s image. He also called upon the general public to always engage security and other authorities in fighting crimes.

The function saw promoted officers coming along with their spouses, parents, friends or relatives and a number of police artists entertained the dignitaries and the artists included among others Afande Miya, O.J and Clever Kats.

Present at the function were the woman MP Jinja City Hon Manjeri Kyebakutika, RCC Jinja City Mr. Darius Nandinda and his two deputies of southern and northern divisions, RDC Jinja district Mr. Richard Gulume Balyaino, cantonment commander Busoga Col. Robert Ruteinama and DPC Kirinya prisons SP Kiboi Ben Moses.
