Girl, 15, raped on her way to school, rapist nabbed

The Police in Masindi District, western Uganda have arrested a suspect accused of allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl on Monday morning.

MASINDI, UGANDA: The Police in Masindi District, western Uganda have arrested a man on allegations of raping a 15-year-old girl who was on her way to school on Monday morning.

The girl, a primary seven candidate at Masindi Islamic Primary School (whom this publication will address as Hawa – not her real name) was en route on her 6 KM journey to the school when the suspected rapist bundled into and forced himself onto her.

Mr Tunura Brian, the Office of the National Chairman Coordinator (ONC) for Bunyoro Sub- Region who was on his routine school monitoring exercise was shocked to learn about the case of a pupil who was raped that morning on her way to school between 5:30 – 6 am.

“Hawa has always walked with his brother on her school days but unfortunately, the day she trekked alone, the evil man who is suspected to have followed her from her home village Kyamugwei in Masindi Municipality attacked her on the way and defiled and raped her,” Mr Tunura said.

The loudly crying Hawa licking blood all over her sexual parts and bruises on her body continued to school where the teachers received her and got the full narration about the bad happening.

Mr Tunura said that, on learning that the girl could recall the face of the rapist, he contacted the parents of Hawa and with the support of Uganda Police they traced and arrested the rapist who is currently held in Police Custody.

Hawa was rushed to Masindi Military Hospital where she is currently getting medical attention as Uganda Police is finalizing an investigation to parade the criminal before the court of law.

“I went back in the evening and the criminal was still in custody and I will follow up on this case until this satanic agent is put where he belongs in prison,” Tunura added.

He however advised school heads to avoid those early morning lessons to enable pupils schooling from home to walk to school safely.

He also advised the parents to accompany their children to school to avoid risking them to evil people.
