Kiryandongo disburses shs70m to PWDs and older persons

Kiryandongo District authorities have launched the disbursement of funds worth 70 million shillings to 16 beneficiary groups under the special grant for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Special Enterprise Grant for older persons. 

The special grant for PWDs target persons with any form of disability including those with multiple disabilities like mental disorder who are represented by their caregivers while the special enterprise grant for older persons is meant to support those between 60-79 years to engage in productive activities.

The Kiryandongo District Chairperson, Ms Edith Aliguma urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds received as per the work plans submitted and always seek guidance from the extension workers within their sub-counties.

Mr Denis Dacan, the Principal Assistant CAO cautioned the beneficiaries against the people who may ask for part of the money claiming to have helped them in the process of generating the enterprise groups.

“No one should come to you asking for money claiming to have helped you be part of the beneficiaries.” Said Dacan.

Meanwhile, Mr Dan Muganga, the RDC Kiryandongo implored the beneficiaries to seek all the necessary training required to successfully implement their enterprises.

The special grants launched aim at improving the livelihoods of persons with disabilities and older persons.
