Minister Kwiyucwiny directs Pakwach RDC on monitoring PDM, Wealth Creation Programmes

PAKWACH, UGANDA: The State Minister for Northern Uganda, Hon Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny has directed the RDC’s office in Pakwach District to directly monitor Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) and Parish Development Modal (PDM) programmes in the district.

Minister Kwiyucwiny was on Thursday, July 20, addressing over 500 people who attended a Baraza meeting at Ojigo Primary School playground in Ojigo parish, Wadelai sub-county in Pakwach District.

The Minister cautioned those who have already got PDM money mostly in three sub-counties out of the five not to misuse it by buying mattresses, radios among other luxurious items.

The Pakwach District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Jane Avur Pacuto in her speech, requested the Minister to consider her request for 500 iron sheets to help sort out some livelihood programs in the district, to which the minister acknowledged and recommended to be delivered in the shortest period of time.

The LCV Chairman of Pakwach District Hon Omito Robert cautioned the district technical staff to always produce good accountability since these are public funds and taxpayers’ money.

He promised to monitor all government programs/projects in the district and lobby for more from the government of Uganda.

The Pakwach Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr Paul Eseru implored the community for turning up in great numbers and raising good issues that concern them.

“In a bid to strengthen accountability, supervision and monitoring mechanisms in the district, the Baraza is the way to go,” said RDC Paul Eseru.

He pledged to conduct more community Baraja in all the sub-county in Pakwach district so as to enlighten the community on government programs/projects.

Mr Eseru said in order to equip the Wanahinci community with government programs and projects in their areas, they need to know which projects/program is in their areas and the total amount of money meant for such programs/projects.

He further emphasized that service delivery must reach the Wanahinci as planned by the government, and appreciated the office of the Prime Minister more so the minister for Northern Uganda Grace Kwiyucwiny, the political leadership in the district, technocrats and the concerned citizens of Pakwach district for the successful Baraza that went on well.
