OBONGI, UGANDA: A 15-year-old South Sudanese national identified as Yuani Samuel Willy, a refugee in Obongi district has died after he committed suicide by hanging himself on Thursday due to suspected stress.
Yuani, a person with a disability (lame) was only discovered dead after being found hanging on a rope inside the room in which he was staying.
Mr Wunyi Emmanuel a male adult aged 30 years, a Kuku by tribe and a South Sudanese Refugee resident of Dongo West Villages A, Block 02, Zone 3 West, Itula Sub County Obongi District reported the matter.
According to Wunyi, the boy has been having a lot of stress since an NGO wanted to construct a house for them but the mother rejected that if the old husband is the one benefiting then it will be a total rejection from her side.
According to Obongi RDC Mr Mpimbaza Samuel Hashaka, police through the North West Nile region at Obongi CPS have opened a general enquiry file pertaining investigation into the death by hanging on GEF 05/2023.
Meanwhile, preliminary police findings indicate that the deceased ten years younger brother to their neighbours who immediately notified the police at Morobi Police Post SD REF: 06/18/07/2023.
The scene of crime was visited by police at Morobi and the incharge CID is now handling the matter.
The body was taken to Idiwa Health Center Ill for Postmortem and later handed over to relatives and buried at another refugee camp at Ariwai in Yumbe district.
