KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has deregistered over 875 companies over non-compliance after failing to file their annual returns for the last five years.
“In accordance with the Companies Act 1 of 2012, 875 companies have been struck off the register for failure to file annual returns for five years,” reads a notice posted on the URSB website.
“We urge all companies to fulfill their obligations promptly,” the notice adds.
According to the Bureau Spokesperson Mr Denis Nabende, the law dictates that companies that haven’t filed returns for five years be struck off the register or be deregistered.
He further said that they are still identifying more non-compliant companies for continuous deregistration.
“We shall continue to review our records and identify other non-compliant companies for action, he said, urging all affected parties or those with inquiries to contact or visit any of URSB offices countrywide.
The development means that the affected companies cannot transact business anymore in any part of the country.
