IGANGA, IGANDA: A number of pressure groups in the Busoga sub-region that subscribe to Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba (MK) on Friday resolved to merge into one major group through which they will implement guidelines from the national leadership of the MK Movement.
The leadership of MK groups which included the MK Project, Team Avengers, Team Chairman and Revolutionary Guards on Friday gathered at Mum Resort Hotel in Iganga for a press conference where they confirmed the development amidst warning the public against opportunists and self-seekers.
Mr Balondemu Denis, the former coordinator Team Chairman and the one who mobilized for the press conference says all teams which have been spreading the MK message were merged for the aim of unity and he called upon the public to be vigilant against self-seekers who may brand themselves as MK leaders in Busoga.
“Our aim today was to tell Busoga that all teams which are preaching the gospel of MK in Busoga have been merged into one group and there should be no one to claim leadership of the MK movement in Busoga but we’re just waiting for guidelines from national that will determine who will lead in Busoga since our aim is to mobilize ourselves into a united group,” Mr Balondemu said.
Hajj Ojasi Swaibu, who is one of the patrons of the MK movement in Busoga said they agree as Busoga to unite for the ideologies of the youthful MK citing that Busoga has challenges which can be dealt with once unity is prioritized like how they have decided.
“We are having one decision as Busoga and it’s unity since our boss MK directed to have all groups merged. As Busoga, we embraced MK after analyzing his ideologies and we have some challenges in Busoga like poverty and we embrace whoever comes in the region for mindset change and development like MK,” Hajji Ojasi said.
He added that Busoga is currently facing a problem of unemployment saying that one of the objectives of MK is to have a number of youths employed citing that there is a need to revive Busoga as a food basket and an industrial hub like it used to be.
Mr Kyakuva Joshua Robert from Mayuge district says all groups of MK have become one group without any division, and now awaiting guidance from MK on how best they can operate in Busoga with one defined leadership.
He called upon members of the opposition with disagreements amongst themselves to join them because they are aiming at one thing changing leadership in a peaceful way.
“They have been yearning for change and here is General Muhoozi Keinerugaba to have a new leader because we agree that President Museveni has worked but the time will come for him to retire and we’re preparing our youthful general to cover up once that time comes,” Mr Kyakuva said.
Speaking to DailyExpress, the former leader of Avengers in the Busoga sub-region Mr Kakaire Ali who hails from Bugweri district commended others for agreeing with each other to have only one MK movement group and he confirmed that they accepted to be led by Mr. Balondemu Denis such that they speak one language up to the time of elections.
Ms Nabirye Phoebe Catherine of the women league in team chairman Bugiri district says they are combining efforts from all groups of MK for the purpose of pushing far and she promised a great positive change where they will not tolerate corruption and other bad behaviours among leaders in Uganda.
“One day President Museveni said he’s a bit lenient to corrupt officials but Muhoozi Keinerugaba will not be lenient and that is one of the changes we should expect,” Ms Nabirye said before calling upon women in Busoga and Uganda as whole to join them in promoting development.
Meanwhile, Mr Kasalawo Kikalangafu Kalulu, who is one of the pioneers of the MK group in Busoga said, “We have come to unite all groups in Busoga for the good of a united force to push General Muhoozi for presidency and we came not as opportunists or self-seekers but as a united force for change in developing suggestions to push for youths involvement in the revolution.”
