15-year-old pupil gang-raped at Kibuku disco hall

KIBUKU, UGANDA: The Police in North Bukedi Region are investigating a disturbing case in which a 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by three men in Kibuku District, eastern Uganda.

The victim (names withheld she is a minor), a pupil at Nankodo Islamic Primary School and a resident of Nankodo Town Centre, Nankodo Sub-County in Kibuku District was allegedly raped on July 31 during a disco night.

The Bukedi North Region Police Spokesperson, SP Immaculate Alaso says at about 12 am at Nankodo 11 Village, the victim is said to have escaped from home and went to a disco hall from where she was raped by unknown men.

“She went to the disco and she met some people. They took her to the bush and abused her. She was abandoned there in bad condition,” SP Alaso said.

She added that upon regaining consciousness and having heard a voice coming from a nearby road, the victim reached out for help and was taken to a nearby home where her relatives picked her from.

Ms Alaso added that a case of rape was registered at Kasasira Police Post and asked the community to volunteer information on the whereabouts of the suspects who are still at large.
