Man, 18, arrested for defiling three-year-old girl

NAPAK, UGANDA: Police in Napak District in northern Uganda have arrested an 18-year-old male adult on allegations of defiling a three-year-old girl.

The suspect identified as Okia Michael, 18, is alleged to have defiled the minor last week on July 30, in an incident registered at Locwae village in Apeitolim Parish, Apeiltolim sub-county in Napak District

According to Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Mike Longole, “It is alleged that on the fateful day, the parents left the girl alone at home to attend prayers, during which time the suspect took advantage of the situation and defiled the little girl.”

Upon committing the act, the suspect allegedly went to hiding within the same community but with the help of the Police’s intelligence unit, he was apprehended and currently detained at Apeitolim Police station.

“Based on received intelligence, the suspect was believed to be hiding within the same locality. Police successfully located and arrested him from his hideout,” the Regional Police Spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday morning.

“We appeal to all parents to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children. It is crucial to avoid leaving little ones unattended and instead entrust them to the care of a responsible person whenever they need to leave home or travel. This will significantly reduce the risk of harm and protect our children from potential dangers,” IP Longole urged the parents and leaders.
