OBONGI, UGANDA: Police in Obongi District are hunting for a primary school teacher on allegations of impregnating a widow of a deceased UPDF soldier and embezzling her money amounting to over ten million shillings. The deceased soldier is survived by five orphans.
The suspect; Awule Mawe, a resident of Obongi and at the same time a teacher at Green Light P/S in Arua District is accused of stealing the money (pension and gratuity for the fallen soldier) from the deceased’s bank account.
Awule also impregnated the widow after promising to give her a piece of land but later disappeared to Arua with the sum of money.
Following his disappearance, the widow ran to the office of the Resident District Commissioner in Obongi district and reported the matter.
The RDC, Mr Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka swung into action and directed the police in Obongi district to investigate the matter as soon as possible.
Mr Mpimbaza told this website that a case of intermeddling with a deceased’s estate has been opened up at Obongi Central Police Station vide case No. SD ref 24/26/07/2023.
