ENTEBBE, (UG): President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday held a high-level meeting with former President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta and the two discussed among others key issues pertaining to the East African Community.
The meeting between the two leaders took place at State House Entebbe according to a statement by the Presidential Press Unit.
“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) wishes to inform the General Public that the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Gen. (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has today, 5th of August 2023, met the former President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, the facilitator of the Democratic Republic of Congo Peace Process, at State House, Entebbe,” said the PPU in a Saturday statement.
During his meeting with Museveni, Uhuru briefed the Ugandan Head of State about the ongoing peace process in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
After the meeting, President Museveni tweeted this; “I received former President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, in his capacity as the facilitator of the Democratic Republic of Congo Peace Process.”
“We had meaningful discussions and I thank him for coming,” the President added.
The former Kenyan President was accompanied to the meeting by Ambassador Macharia Kamau, Brigadier (Rtd) Elijah Mwanyika, and Uganda’s minister of State for Foreign Affairs, John Mulimba.
