PICTORIAL: How Afrigo Band celebrated their 48th Anniversary at Kampala Sheraton

KAMPALA, (UG): Uganda’s oldest musical group Afrigo Band on Saturday, August 5th August 2023 celebrated 48 years of undisputed stay in the music industry in a live band concert that took place at Kampala Sheraton Hotel Gardens.

The enthralling concert dubbed Legends of the Sound attracted legendary musicians such as Congolese Legendary known as Awilo Longomba, Ragga Dee, Dr Jose Chameleone and Mesach Semakula with CBS FM’s Abbey Mukiibi as the host emcee.

The show started at around 7:00 pm with Mesach Semakula and Ragga Dee who excited the long-waiting fans showing their support and love to the vibes of Live playing Band.

The much-anticipated Live Band performance from Afrigo started with most known singles like Mundeke, Emmere Esilide and Abaana ba Afrigo by Joanita Kawalya, Emaali by Racheal Magola, the woman MP for Bugwere district.

At around 9:30 pm, Afrigo’s Chief guest, Awilo Longomba went stormed the stage with an amazing dance show backed up by the Live Band and several Ugandan dancers.

The Congolese Legendary musician praised Afrigo Band’s experience and skills in the music industry and said that he was so grateful for performing with Uganda’s Afrigo Band for the first time.

Awilo’s performance was followed by Eddy Yawe who went to the stage at around 10:00 pm and started with his hit singles “Tukiggale and Mukayembe.

Racheal Magola then hit the stage and started with her hit single “Obangaina.”

At exactly 11:47 pm, Dr Jose Chameleone in a surprise act of the night wowed the audience with performances of his songs such as Wale Wale, Kipepeo, and Mama Rhoda, concluding the show at prematurely before midnight.

In addition to the electrifying performances on stage, the event offered revellers a wide range of unique offstage experiences with state-of-the-art production, stunning visuals, and superior sound quality.
