IGP Ochola transfers 135 police commanders in latest reshuffles

KAMPALA, (UG): The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola has shaken the police again yet again with over 135 top Senior Police Officers transferred to new divisions across the country.

A source within the police force who preferred anonymity to this report told this website that the recent reshuffle which is yet to be formally announced came after several complaints went to the President claiming the mishandling of cases were severely increasing at the Police.

Another source claimed that; “the president had also received complaints of corruption, bribery, extortion among others within police fraternity.

The source quoting the President says Mr Museveni recently summoned the IGP over the mentioned allegations and demanded an explanation over the same saying; “I don’t want to hear such rubbish in police, the institution should serve the public very well.”

The source further acclaims that after being grilled by the President, the IGP has now responded with a whole lot of reshuffles affecting over 135 senior police officers in the process.

Prominent among the reshuffled officers is Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nganizi Wisely, who has been the Regional Police Commander – Rwizi Region, and has now been transferred to Busoga Sub Region. ACP Nganizi has been replaced by ACP Kitumwa Rusoke.

Others affected include; SSP Monday Johnson from Homicide Department to Kira Region as Regional CID, SSP Vincent Okurutu from Electricity Regulatory Authority to KMP as Deputy CID, ACP Mugwisagye Richard from Course to head the Cyber Crimes Department.

Additionally, ACP Henry Mugumya has been moved from Course to General Crime, SP Godwin Ababa from CPS in Kampala to Wamala Region as Regional CID, SP Juliet Nakawala CID to head Electrol Offences, SP Harriet Kako from CID to Nsangi as OCID.

SP Procesy Namukasa moves from CID to Lands Department, SP Jane Sanyu sent to Rwengo as OCID and SP Mukyala Caroline sent to Rakai as OCID, SP Mwesigwa Onsemus sent to Luwero as OCID, SP Akongo Bibiana to Jinja Road as OCID, SP Kimera Isaq to Office of Nakalema.

According to the message, all transferred officers must hand over their officers and report to their new duty stations.
