JINJA, (UG): The Regional Police Commander for Kiira Region, SSP Rogers Sseguya has urged members of the Police Exodus Sacco to purchase shares in the cooperative savings group if they are to benefit more.

The newly deployed RPC was on Friday attending a workshop at CPS Jinja fire brigade hall led by ASP Julius Waiswa who is the in-charge of recovery/deductions in the Kiira police Exodus Sacco.

The workshop which was held on August 11, 2023, at CPS Jinja fire brigade hall was attended by over 200 members and 50 non-members converted and the majority have purchased shares. Over 200 people including members and non-members attended the workshop where a number of officers converted and bought shares in the Sacco.

Kiira regional police spokesperson SP James Mubi, who himself bought 147 shares at 10,000shs each said that the workshop intended to tell the members and non-members about the Exodus Sacco products.

According to SP Mubi, the Exodus Sacco products are of three kinds; ranging from the H-Coy account, which caters for school fees loans under H-Coy children and is offered at 8% per annum.

The second product is the group account product which targets relatives of police officers for instance spouses who belong to a registered Sacco group it becomes easy for such members to get loans from Exodus Sacco.

The last product is the shilling for shilling product where members save monthly and continuously for a period of 10 years, after that specified period and a member gets double their savings.

SP Mubi explained that a pioneer member of the Sacco since 2007, D/Sgt Jamila Nabutanda told her how she always had negative perceptions about the Sacco but because of the simple, clear and lengthy explanations from ASP Waiswa on the Sacco sources of income, benefits of savings and purchasing shares, terms and conditions, she changed her mind and signed up for more products.

“After clearing her misconceptions, D/Sgt Jamila Nabutanda confirmed her actual savings on the account and to express her gratitude she purchased five shares and promised to become a lifetime positive ambassador for the Sacco,” SP Mubi told DailyExpress after the Friday workshop.
