KAMULI, (UG): Residents of Bulopa subcounty in Kamuli district are in grief after learning of the demise of their gallant son, Buyinza David Isabirye Mulamba.
An ardent supporter of Gen Museveni and NRM since 1986, David Buyinza was pronounced dead on Saturday, August 12, 2023, after losing the battle to diabetes and hypertension which he has treated for the past five years.
His untimely demise counts to be a double tragedy after losing another of their own in Amb. Hajj Muhammad Kisambira (Uganda’s former envoy to Iran).
According to NRM strongholds in the eastern district of Kamuli, Buyinza died dissatisfied with Mr Museveni & the ruling party whom he supported a lot for abandoning him at the most critical time he was fighting for his life.
A reliable source from one of the family members who asked for anonymity has indicated that they have been getting money for his treatment through “Gwanga Mujje;” ” We have been soliciting for funds to treat Mzee from friends and well-wishers.”
“Mzee has died with ANGER at the management of Bulopa SSS, a school he founded for failure to give him a financial hand or even checking on him. We have not received any aid from NRM and President Museveni whom he loved throughout his life.” Continued the family member.”
Mzee Buyinza has been unique in a way that he supported both Kadaga and the late Hajji Kaugu Mugaino who were bitter political rivals.
A source from the family also revealed the tremendous support from Thomas Kategere, Hon. Asuman Kiyingi and Bulopa SS Old students who from time to time sacrificed their financial, material and spiritual aid towards the treatment of Mzee.
“Kategere Thomas has been there for Mzee from the day he first fell sick, up to death. Also Hon Kiyingi Asuman plus old students of Bulopa SS headed by HM Ziraba, Mr Kibadha & Mr Mubiru. All friends have helped a lot We can’t thank them enough.”
Mr Buyinza David, a seasoned Politician, started politics at a very tender age as the district councillor representing Bulopa subcounty to Kamuli district in 1989.
In the council, he participated in the election of Hon. Kadaga the first woman MP KAMULI DISTRICT in 1989.
He then became the subcounty chairman in 1992, a position he held until 2006 when he lost the election to late Kibeyo but bounced back in 2016-2021.
He never stood in 2021 because of the illness but chose his successor who massively won.
He is the brain behind the foundation of Bulopa SSS alongside Hajji Yahaya, the late Bishop Bamwoze, etc.
He was the political engine mobilising parents to build the school and oversaw its growth and development.
David Buyinza will be greatly remembered for his robust and quick approach to issues affecting the local people as well as for being incorruptible, straightforward forward and very hard-working.
Family sources said burial arrangements would be communicated later.
