The Police in Aswa East Region and Pader District have put up a serious manhunt for one Christopher Ali Bongonyonge, the LC 2 Chairman, for Acumu Ward, Acholi bar Town Council for the aggravated defilement of his 15-year-old, step-daughter.
The incident is said to have occurred last Monday, August 07, 2023, at around midnight according to a statement by Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga.
Facts gathered so far indicate that the suspect who is a stepfather to the victim returned home that day, picked a panga and started accusing the teen girl of indulging in love affairs with boys in the village before later forcing her to share a room with him.
The victim narrated her ordeal to her relatives that at around midnight while sleeping, the suspect woke up the victim and tasked her to lead him to her boyfriend’s home, but along the way, he dragged her to the nearby bush and defiled her.
Enanga says the matter was reported to Acholibur CPS in Pader district but by the time police officers swung into action to arrest the suspect, he had fled his home.
“We appeal to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect to inform the nearest police unit. The panga, which was used to intimidate the victim, was recovered,” Enanga urged on behalf of the Aswa Regional Police and that of Pader District.
He added; “We continue to remind all guardians, parents and half-parents, that children look to them for their safety and well-being.”
