PICTORIAL: IUEA holds grand party to celebrate Charter status

KAMPALA, (UG): The International University of East Africa (IUEA) over the weekend held a grand party to celebrate the award of a charter to the institution by the National Council For Higher Education (NCHE).

The Charter, which was granted to the IUEA in recognition of its stellar world-class educational experience was officially approved and signed by His Excellency, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda in September 2022.

Now on Friday, August 11, 2023, the Kansanga-based university held a grand party to celebrate achieving this feat, throwing the top varsity staff, students and stakeholders to massive loads of fun and music from top performers across the entertainment industry.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor IUEA, Prof. Emeka Akazouwa observed that the fete was an opportunity for the university to build stronger ties with its stakeholders while showcasing the opportunities it has continued to offer its students over the years.

Prof. Akazouwa said that the charter award was a recognition of IUEA’s prowess in the academic and technological realms.

The Chairperson of the IUEA University Council, Amb. Moses Ssebunya who also attended the party expressed joy at the achievement and lauded the efforts of the Vice Chancellor, Faculty, Deans, Lecturers, the entire University fraternity and all stakeholders in the attainment of the great milestone for the private university.

The Assistant Commissioner in charge of private schools and institutions at the Education Ministry, Mr George Mutekanga explained the significance of chartered institutions and the role of private universities in education.

Mr Mutekanga hailed the IUEA Board and Management for ensuring the university reaches the height of being a Chartered institution in the country.

The celebrations entailed a photo session, followed by speeches from the Vice Chancellor, Council Chairperson, Faculty Representatives and Students Representatives – Guild President Nathan Mubembe and Information and Communication Minister Solomon Juma.

This was followed by dinner and an entertainment session whose highlight was a 5-minute fireworks’ display at exactly 9:00 PM.

There was a surprise performance by a guest artist, Navio, who gave a great show, in tandem with the celebratory mood of the night.
