OTTAWA, CA: The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi, has concluded his working visit to Canada, with a courtesy visit to the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa.
The Ambassador who was representing the leader of Uganda’s delegation to Canada, 3rd Deputy Premier, Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama, hailed the strong and growing ties between Uganda and Canada, emphasizing that the recently concluded 2nd Canada NRM Chapter Symposium was a prime example of the accelerated collaboration between the two countries.
He also thanked and commended the Embassy staff for their commitment and dedication to offering our customers a world-class service.
On her part, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Canada, Ambassador Joy Ruth Acheng, reckoned Uganda-Canada economic ties, which she said have been growing notably in the export-import capacity.
Acheng highlighted that Uganda’s Embassy in Canada looks forward to working together with Ugandans back home, and those in Canada to ensure that the growing export-import capacity stays on growth track. She further revealed that the Embassy is ready to guide and support Ugandans willing to study or work in Canada.
Deputy High Commissioner, Ambassador Allan Kajik, was happy that stakeholders had joined hands to bolster ties, adding that there is growing hope for stronger collaboration. He couldn’t hide his excitement, for it was the first official meeting, since his recent appointment.
A team from State House, Uganda, led by, Sandra Ndyomugyenyi, noted that government looks forward to continue supporting the Embassy, in order to promote Uganda’s trade, tourism and vast investment opportunities.
The meeting also deliberated on different modalities of preparing for the 3rd Canada NRM Chapter Symposium, with the tentative committee considering holding it in Ottawa. An exhibition was suggested, to have more of Uganda’s products displayed for marketing purposes.
On top of that, Ambassador Walusimbi was tasked with sourcing funds, to establish the NRM diaspora structure in Canada, in a bid to mobilize members and tighten party ties.
Additionally, Ugandan professionals based in Canada requested to meet with H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in order to forge a path of knowledge and technological transfer.
Mr Mahad Yusuf, who runs one of the Youth Organizations in Canada, proposed a Youth conference, which will take place in early 2024 in Uganda.
The workshop will attract inspiring speakers, and breakout sessions focused on incredible & unparalleled networking opportunities, new contacts, and collected solid leads, that will convert into valuable business relationships for the youth in Uganda.
