Man commits suicide after failing to get rich at 23 years

Kampala, (UG): The Police in Nakawa Division are investigating the death of a 23-year-old male adult, identified as Bagumya Francis, who also committed suicide by hanging.

The incident happened on August 14, 2023, at the Kyambogo University Community Liaison Office (CLO) building in Banda, Nakawa division.

According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enang, preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was an employee of CK Associates Construction Company.

According to Enanga, the deceased left behind a suicide note claiming that he could not believe that he could reach 23 years without getting rich and that his father never helped him but abandoned him.

“It is devastating to commit suicide because of depression, frustration, and anger. The circumstances that led to the acts of suicide could have been prevented if the victim got help in the form of counseling from counselors or other support groups,” Enanga advised.
