Uganda, South Sudan Islamic Council discuss bilateral relations

Juba, South Sudan: The chairman of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Al-hajj Prof Dr Muhamadi Lubega Kisambira has pledged a total relationship with the South Sudan Islamic Council for the social and economic development of Muslims in both countries.

Dr Lubega, who is in South Sudan to strengthen the bilateral relations between the UMSC and the South Sudan Islamic Council also paid a courtesy visit to the ambassador of the Republic of Uganda in Juba H.E Ronnie Balya on his second day and they also discussed matters regarding investment opportunities in South Sudan.

The ambassador assured the UMSC chairman of full support concerning the possible investments in South Sudan.

“As the embassy, we support the development and it’s on this note that we pledge total support concerning possible investments in South Sudan,” H.E Balya said in a meeting with the UMSC chairman.

“On the second day of my visit to South Sudan, I had a meeting with H.E Ronnie Balya, the ambassador of the Republic of Uganda in Juba who assured me of full support in regards to the investments in South Sudan. The major aim of this noble visit to South Sudan is to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two Islamic councils,” Dr Lubega told Daily Express.

UMSC and the South Sudan Islamic Council discussed the social economic development of Muslims in both countries as a way of strengthening their relationships.

This comes as a result of the memorandum of understanding signed by H.E the Mufti of Uganda and the secretary general of the South Sudan Islamic Council in 2019.

“We also discussed the social economic development of Muslims in both Uganda and South Sudan and this has been realized from the signed memorandum of understanding by H.E the Mufti of Uganda and the secretary general of South Sudan Islamic Council in 2019,” Prof Lubega confirmed.

He also assured that the UMSC is committed to strengthening bilateral relations with other Muslim councils in various countries in efforts to stimulate the development of the entire Muslim fraternity across the continent and the world as a whole.
