Kampala, (UG): Laughter, cheers, and unwavering team spirit colored the landscape of Kampala Parents’ School as the institution hosted its annual sports day last weekend on Saturday, August 26th.
With a vibrant display of athleticism and unity, the event was a celebration of both individual talent and collective strength.
The school’s sports grounds were transformed into a hub of excitement as students from various houses; Kob, Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Crane, and Elephant participated in a series of spirited competitions.
The atmosphere was electric, with parents and peers alike filling the air with cheers and applause. From the 800-meter race to the obstacle challenges, the short relays to the sack races, the students left no stone unturned in showcasing their physical prowess and unwavering determination.
This year’s sports day saw the KOB house emerge as the triumphant winner with an impressive 637 points.
The LION house roared into the second position with a proud tally of 611 points, closely followed by the LEOPARD house, securing a commendable third place with 603 points. The RHINO house, showcasing resilience and strength, held its ground with a solid 597 points.
The CRANE and ELEPHANT houses, though placing sixth and seventh respectively, displayed admirable sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
The sports arena was a vibrant sea of colors, filled with parents, teachers, and fellow pupils, all enthusiastically cheering on the young athletes. The event was graced by esteemed guests, Dr. Isabirye Paul, a specialist in public health, and SPC Frank Mwesigwa, the deputy director of counter-terrorism.
Dr. Isabirye, a parent within the school community, applauded the concerted efforts of teachers, students, parents, and school management in fostering excellence in both academics and sports.
“We take pride in the role of sports in fostering education in primary schools,” Dr. Isabirye remarked, highlighting the multifaceted benefits of sports participation for young learners.
SPC Frank Mwesigwa echoed the sentiment, stating, “I am delighted to be a part of this prestigious exhibition of talent and sports, which allows us to connect directly with the public and educate them about the wide array of services we provide.”

Ms. Daphine Kato, the visionary headteacher of Kampala Parents’ School, expressed gratitude to the parents who entrust their children’s education to the institution.
