Speeding truck kills two in Bugiri mosque crash

Bugiri, (UG): A speeding truck on Sunday knocked two people dead before ramming into a mosque in Busowa town council, Bugiri district, along the Jinja-Iganga-Busia highway.

The deceased including a pregnant woman whose particulars are not yet known, were taken to Bugiri General Hospital’s mortuary, awaiting postmortem.

The driver of the truck, reg no. KDE 144Q reportedly fled the scene for fear of attacks from the angry locals.

Eyewitnesses say that the fuel track which was coming from Iganga District ran over the two victims, rammed into the mosque, and destroyed part of it.

The Imam of the mosque, Mohammed Naminya says that a dozen of pupils who were studying Quran teachings escaped from the mosque unharmed but, all the learning materials were destroyed.
