Lira, (UG): Lira City West Member of Parliament, Hon Vincent Shedrick Obong has surprised over 100 members of the Catholic and the Anglican Church leadership by distributing maize seeds in order to boost maize production in the second season.
The MP through his personal assistant, Mr Isaac Ogwal Ogweng says the same amount of maize seeds shall be given to the Muslims in Lira City West Division, Yahweh Pentecostal Churches (recognised). Others include; PAG Mission Church leaders who are also recognised and Born churches in the Division.
“We started with St. Jude and distributed in other places like St.Peter’s Church of Uganda Adyel, St. Daniel Comboni Eucharistic Centre Adyel, St Peter’s Catholic Parish Anai and St Phillips Church of Uganda,” said Mr Ogwal.
Ogwal said the distribution will continue next Saturday to recognised born-again church and Muslim mosque leaders who are located in the Lira City West Division constituency.
James Alam Ororo, a secretary to one of the protestant churches in City West who got the seeds while addressing journalists said he really appreciates MP Obong Vincent for putting into consideration the church leaders as beneficiaries of his Foundation.
Hon Vincent Shedrick Obong is currently sponsoring a total of 162 students at Light Vocational College.
The MP says he is going to contest again for the same seat in the 2026 general elections under the UPC party ticket.
