ZOMBO: Man found hanging dead inside school latrine

Shock and grief immensely engulfed residents of Mvungu cell in Paidha town council after a male adult in his early twenties was found hanging dead in one of the latrine stances of Mvungu Upper Primary School in Zombo District.

Mungujakisa Prosper allegedly hanged himself using a rope and was discovered dead at about 2 pm on Thursday, 14th September 2023, by kids who habitually play football in a pitch situated next to the stances of the latrine.

Residents who had failed to identify the dead male adult, hurriedly through the LC1 Chairperson informed the police who later picked up the body from the scene of the crime.

Close relatives were identified and the body was disposed of at the home of the father as further investigations into the cause of the crime take lead.

Mr Awotha Swaib, the LC1 Chairperson of Mvungu cell where the incident happened hardly identified the deceased saying; “I don’t know him, he didn’t reside in my village.”

Mr Awotha told DailyExpress that the vicinity of the crime scene has for long been a hideout point for different drug addicts because of the secluded ambience.

The LC3 Chairperson of Paidha town council, Innocent Onega fronted the adoption of counselling in trying moments to avoid such incidents of suicide.

“In a situation where you are confronted by challenges, share it, a problem shared is a problem halfway solved,” Mr Onega remarked.

Recent cases of suicide were registered in Abanga and Zombo Town Council in Zombo District.

Barely a month later, an adult male in Zombo town council hanged himself to death after his wife reportedly committed adultery.
