Three years since ‘betraying’ the ‘People Power Movement’, faded NRM vlogger Ashiraf Katto, aka Ashburg Katto has called it quits from the yellow camp to reunite with Bobi Wine over yet to be identified reasons.

In a video uploaded via his X account, Ashburg (who became popular for being the right hand man of opposition politician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine) confessed being sorry for himself and the people he betrayed when he decided to quit the struggle after being promised ‘heaven on earth’ from the ruling government.

Captioning the video, Ashburg said; “It’s by this time that i’ve decided to quit NRM… And i will never vote anything Museveni again.”

Reflecting on his Ghetto Initiative proposal which he says he submitted to the NRM government, Ashburg says he has now realised it was a political trap because after three years, nothing is promising to uplift the life of youths languishing in the Ghetto.

“I must admit i fell into a political trap, because three years down the road, nothing has not been done yet,” he bemoaned.

This is not the first time the motor-mouthed blogger is denouncing NRM, after the same person in 2020 publicly denounced his support for the ruling party after receiving severe battering by security and left nursing wounds.

While narrating the ordeal of torture then, Katto revealed how he was clobbered, assaulted, embarrassed, and beaten up in broad daylight by security officers while en route to UBC TV to present a National Project about climate change.

It remains unclear if Ashburg Katto’s announcement to quit NRM is a stunt to lobby for a bigger cheque or a real manifestation of his true identity to return to the Bobi Wine-led NUP ahead of the 2026 general elections.
