Man, 20, hacks 11-year-old sister after defiling her

Gulu, (UG): The Territorial Police in Aswa West Region and Gulu district have arrested a step brother on allegations of aggravated defilement of murder of his step-sister, an 11 year old, pupil at Coopil Primary School in Gulu district.

The suspected identified as Rubangakene Richard, a 20 year old, peasant of Coopil village, Angaya parish, Unyama sub county in Gulu district reportedly hit the step-sister; Agenorwat Angel with a hammer on the head after forcefully sleeping with her.

According to Police Spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga, the incident happened last Thursday, September 14, 2023 at around 2pm in Coopil Village where the two were staying together.

“The suspect on the fateful day asked his step sister to go and pick plates from the house, and immediately followed her in the house, grabbed and violently defiled the victim,” Mr Enanga said in a police statement on Tuesday morning.

After the forceful sexual act, Enanga says the suspect “picked a hammer and hit her head, killing her instantly. The killer weapon was recovered.”

The Police Spokesman condemned the gruesome act and said the horrific murder of the 11 year old, girl victim is a reminder of the dangers young girls face, even before their siblings.

“Children below the age of 12, are not mature enough to defend themselves. It is important to always keep an eye on them,” warned Enanga.
