32-year-old man caught defiling 4-year-old daughter in Rubirizi 

Rubirizi, (UG): The Police in Rubirizi District, southwestern Uganda are holding a 32-year-old man arrested on allegations of defiling his 4-year-old daughter.

According to Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, Mr Marcial Tumusiime, the suspect, a resident of Mugogo II Village in Ryeru Sub County, Rubirizi District was on Monday, September 19, arrested after being caught red-handed defiling his biological daughter.

“..yes, we received information from area resident Ronia Kyarimpa alleging that the suspect was on September 19 found defiling his biological daughter. So, we had to swing in and arrest the suspect,” Mr Tumusiime told Journalists on Tuesday this week.

Medical tests conducted by the village health team officer, Pamela Musimenta showed the victim had been [sexually] used several times.

“Tests were done at Rugazi Health Center IV confirming that she had been defiled many times. It is very unfortunate that fathers can no longer trusted with their own daughters,” Ms Musimenta told this publication.

DailyExpress has exclusively learnt that the suspect and his wife (the victim’s mother) separated about three years ago the child has often been brought to stay with the father on temporary basis.

“Early this year, the woman brought the children to stay with their father. The two children, including the victim and her 2-year-old brother, have been staying with their father,” Tumusiime revealed.

The police annual crime report of 2022 indicates that by the end of 2022, a total of 3,620 cases of aggravated defilement were reported to police compared to 3,783 cases reported in 2021, giving a 4.3 percent decrease.
