Midfielder Allan Okello joins Vipers SC on three-year deal

Entebbe, (UG): Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello has signed a three-year deal with Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC after leaving Algerian side Paradou AC.

The left-footed gem joined Paradou AC football club in 2020 on a four-year contract from KCCA FC but spent last season on loan at Lugogo before mutually agreeing to terminate his contract at the North African outfit earlier this month

During his spell at his former employers last season, Okello, 23, showcased how he is still classy returning five goals and eight assists.

On completing his move to Vipers, Okello said: “I am so happy to join Vipers Sports Club! I am so excited to be here at this big club and l didn’t have to think twice when Vipers called me, l just knew l wanted to sign for the club. I can’t wait to get started with the team.”

Okelo, a graduate of the Kasasiro boys rose to the limelight in 2017 as a 16-year-old and was immediately coded ‘the next big thing’ when he netted a hat-trick on his senior debut against Onduparaka FC.

The promising youngster won the 2019 FUFA Male Player of the Year award and made a total of 119 appearances for KCCA in the first stint where he scored 39 goals.

During his time at Lugogo, Okello won two Uganda Premier League championships in the 2016/17 and 2018/19 campaigns respectively.

Okello also won two Uganda Cups in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons as well as the 2018 FUFA Super 8 Cup and the 2018/19 CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Among his individual accolades besides the 2019 MVP award, he also won the 2018 Airtel Fans Favorite Player award, the 2018 Young Player of the Year and the 2019 Football256 Player of the Year award.

Vipers Sporting Director, Mr Charles Masembe said: “Okello arrives with experience of winning domestic titles and adds further quality and versatility to our attacking unit.”

Okello now becomes the latest acquisition at Vipers after the arrival of Grant Matsiko, Richard Matovu, Patrick Paul Mbowa, David Bagoole, Fumador Asiwome and Mohamed Salem Ekbad.
